What are the advantages of an ecological mattress? | Tips & Advice
You always want the best for your child, to preserve his health it is important to create a healthy environment around him, and especially in his room where he will spend between 12 and 16 hours a day.
Why choose an ecological baby mattress?
Natural materials for a healthier environment
Creating a healthy and comfortable environment for your child means, above all, choosing natural materials for the mattress and bed linen.
Free of all chemical substances and petroleum derivatives, they do not emit any toxic fumes and provide a totally healthy environment for children.
Naturally limiting the risk of allergies
Natural materials ensure better air circulation inside the mattress, so they allow better evacuation of humidity and limit the proliferation of bacteria and dust mites. Natural fibres therefore make it possible to limit the risks of allergies in a completely natural way.
Better temperature regulation during sleep
To sleep well, the temperature of a child’s or adult’s bedroom should be around 18°C. An overheated bedroom is often a source of restless sleep, nightmares and discomfort on waking.
The composition of the mattress plays an important role in temperature regulation, especially for infants whose body temperature regulation system is still immature.
Good air circulation between the fibres helps to limit excessive sweating by the child, which is often the cause of waking up at night.
What natural materials are used in mattresses?
Natural latex
The latex used in the composition of Kadolis baby mattresses is 100% natural latex. Obtained from the sap of the rubber tree, which grows mainly in the Amazon forest, latex is particularly comfortable and guarantees excellent support.
Latex is a naturally antibacterial material that also has qualities that repel dust mites.
Coconut fibre
Mattresses containing coconut fibre are the most breathable on the market. Coir ensures excellent air circulation, allowing better evacuation of humidity and limiting the proliferation of bacteria and dust mites. This fibre is therefore naturally anti-allergic. On our Cocolatex baby mattress, the coir core provides firm support, a density recommended by paediatricians for a safe sleep. The combination of coconut fibre and latex in a baby mattress ensures an ideal sleeping position.
Tencel™ Lyocell
Made from eucalyptus fibre, it has many qualities. This environmentally friendly fibre naturally repels dust mites and most bacteria. Tencel™ is naturally air-conditioning and ensures good temperature regulation during sleep. This breathable material offers a cool feeling in summer and warmth in winter. All our mattress ticking contains Tencel™ to provide healthier and more comfortable sleeping for babies. It is also used in the composition of some duvets and bed linen.
Wool
It is the ecological fibre par excellence, it grows every year on the backs of sheep and does not require any fertiliser or pesticide. It is biodegradable and can be composted at the end of its life. Wool is a perfect insulator, it insulates from both cold and heat. Used in our mattresses, in the filling of the ticking, wool improves the comfort of the mattress. It also acts as a natural fire barrier, so that mattresses do not have to be treated with a flame retardant chemical.
Ecological mattresses therefore offer a much healthier sleeping experience than any foam on the market, as foam is derived from petroleum products.
Our baby mattresses are not treated with mites, bacteria or fire retardants and are therefore completely guaranteed to be chemical-free.
